Description

Resistance for LED Indicators 21 W. This resistance is specially made for motorcycles with a 21 W flashing light system.

Important:

* You may need resistors and/or LED flashing lights relay when adjusting the flashing lights.

Question: What is a resistance and why is it used?
A: A resistor is a device that simulates the ohmic resistance of the bulb. Almost all motorcycles equipped with conventional direction indicators (bulb) encounter problems when switching from bulb to LED direction indicators as the blinking becomes quicker. Using resistors or a light relay for flashing lights can solve this problem as it returns the flashing speed to normal.

Question: How do I know if I need resistors to mount LED indicators on my motorcycle?
A: If your motorcycle has bulbs from the factory and no LEDs, you will probably have to use resistors to avoid quick blinking of your flashing lights. Most motorcycles models made before 2010 have bulb indicators, while those made after 2010 have LED direction indicators.

Should your motorcycle have LED lights from the factory, you will not need a resistance.

Question: What type of resistance should I pick?
A: There are two types of resistors: 21W / 26 Ohm and 10W / 10 Ohm. Select the 21W resistor at a transition from 21W bulb direction indicator to an LED direction indicator. Select the 10W resistor at a transition from 10W bulb to an LED turn signal.

Question: How do I know if my indicators have a 21 W or a 10 W lamp?
A: Most Kawasaki, Suzuki and some old Honda models (ie Africa Twin) have 21 W direction indicators while most BMW, Ducati, Yamaha, KTM models have 10 W direction indicators. In any case, you can check by removing the bulb. The Watt power is indicated on it.

Question: How do I connect the resistor to the LED light?
A: The resistance must be inserted between the wires of the LED turn signal and the wiring of the motorcycle. See image below.

Question: If I select the 10W resistor, do I need one resistor for each direction indicator?
A: Yes, you need one resistance for each direction indicator. The 10 W resistors are sold per pair.

Question: If I select the 21 W resistor, do I need a resistor for each direction indicator?
A: No, you need a resistor for each side. For example, the signals at the front-left and the rear-left work with the same resistance. It does not matter whether the resistance is mounted on the front or rear direction indicator.
The resistance of 21 W is sold per piece.

Question: What is an LED flashing light relay?
A: The LED flashing relay is a device that replaces the factory relay and is compatible with LEDs. On some motorcycles, placing one will correct the fast-flashing problem. In this case, you do not need any resistors.
The electronic flashing relay has 3 pins and fits on all bikes with a factory flashlight relay with 2 or 3 pins.

NOTE: Everything mentioned above are general rules regarding resistors. However, there have been cases where the LED signals have worked normally without the use of resistors or LED relays, while in other cases the combination of both resistors and LED flashing lights were required.
So, if after installing LED indicators on your motorcycles, the lights do not work, are very weak or flash really slowly/quickly, then you can be 100% sure you need resistors and/or a LED flashing relay.
